Manager Position Open

1       Duties

o    To manage the employees of the RCIC.

o    To manage all related contracts associated with the building and grounds.

o    To maximize income from renting the centre facilities.

o    To write and apply for grants from the government and other agencies.

o    To develop a maintenance program and follow up with contractors/employees.

o    To Receive & organize bookings for the RCIC including the invoicing of payment and prompt receiving and banking procedures for money. To keep good financial records which enable a set of annual accounts to be produced. 

o    To order such equipment as the RCIC requires with particular attention to the cleaner’s requirements in compliance with budgets in operation to ensure that there is not an overspend.

o    To write a Health & Safety Policy for the RCIC, to include a Fire Drill ensuring that the centre users are aware of the policy and how to implement it. Review the Health and Safety Policy and ensure that the annual checks are carried out. Monitor the cleaning of the centre.

o    To manage existing programs and develop new ones as requested by the RCIC board.

o    To publicize the RCIC and its activities in a positive way

o    To develop all necessary policies, procedures and systems for the centre inline with the current legislations and by-laws .

o    To work with the RCIC board and other affiliated boards to implement an effective income generation and business development strategy.

o    To research local needs and work with a range of partners to commission new services and / or develop existing services to address the needs identified.

o    To make all necessary arrangements to ensure the proper management and security of the sites and the health and safety of all staff and users.

o    To recruit, support and supervise directly employed facility staff and to develop joint arrangements in respect of part-time staff.

o    To recruit and manage volunteers and summer students.

o    To monitor budgets and usage in line with requirements of the RCIC.

o    To market and promote the facilities to all sections of the local community.

o    To develop initiatives to promote community cohesion and maximize the involvement of marginalized groups including intergenerational & inter-faith work.

o    To report regularly to the RCIC board.

o    To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with agreed policies, including Health and Safety.

o    To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post.

2      Accountability

The RCIC Executive Director reports to the RCIC board.

3      Essential Skills

Essential skills and experience would include:

o    Commitment to serving Islam and the Muslim community.

o    Good communication and interpersonal skills.

o    The ability to write and follow up on grant applications.

o    Someone who enjoys working with people.

o    Someone who has experience of managing and liaising with people.

o    Someone who has a passion to see a community working and engaging together.

o    Someone who can network and build links with community groups.

o    Basic IT skills, such as proficiency in using Microsoft Office products.

o    The ability to work within a budget, deal with invoices and keep good financial records.

o    A basic understanding of Health & Safety issues.

o    The willingness to be flexible in terms of the approach to carrying out the duties.
